12 Easy to Pack Snacks

I love to eat and I hate sitting on a train, bus or airplane feeling really hungry. I get super cranky if I feel trapped without food. So I’m one of those people who always has a snack in her purse (unless I just ate the last one…). These are twenty-five things that might be living in my purse at any given time because they are so easy to transport.

1. Lara Bars

I love these because they’re a pre-packaged snack but I can read all the ingredients on the label. My favorite flavors are Cashew Cookie and Apple Pie.

2. Apples

3. Bananas

These fruits are great because they can take a beating in your bag and still taste good.

4. Jerky

Jerky is a lifesaver for me because so many snacks are sweet and I get sick of sweets easily. Jerky is always there for me as a savory snack and a source of protein.

5. Digestive biscuits

Digestive biscuits were originally invented for travelers, a tidbit I learned recently from the Great British Bakeoff. My favorite kind are HobNobs when I can get them.

10. Dried Strawberries

These are my fave because you can put them in a baggie and munch on them all day. Like a lot of people I tend to nibble on things when I’m bored at the airport or bus station so it’s nice to have some healthy snacks that won’t break the calorie bank in one shot.

11. Animal Crackers

These remind me of being a kid. The Animal Crackers in the little box with the string handle are the only animal crackers that count because those are the ones my grandmother always bought us.

12. Cheese and Crackers

Triscuits or Wheat Thins plus a few wheels of mini Babybel (the cheese in the red wax rind) always taste good. The crackers are helpful if I get an upset tummy. When you’re traveling, you never know when a stomachache might arise so it’s always good to have some crackers.
