Month In Review: October 2016
October was a blink and you’ll miss it sort of month. I did a ton of work and took two weekend trips to Ohio. It’s all kind of a blur.

Miles Traveled Map
In October, Kevin and I drove a total of 786 miles from Pittsburgh to Troy back to Pittsburgh then to Cleveland and back to Pittsburgh once more.
Favorite Destination of the Month
Cleveland, Ohio.
We hit up Cleveland for Halloween and during the first half of the World Series when it looked like the Indians might win so it was an all-around exciting weekend. Saturday was gorgeous so we spent the day driving and walking around the city enjoying the energy of the day before dressing up for a Halloween party. Kevin ate his first banh mi and was less than impressed, which was disappointing because this same banh mi got Beth and I to start planning a trip to Vietnam.

Best Travel Moment
Letting loose for Halloween. Sometimes, you go to a party where you only know a few people but you’re instantly comfortable around everyone who walks in the door. It’s a rare thing, but when it happens, it’s the best kind of party in the world. Those are all the details you’re getting about the Halloween party because some stories are meant to be kept between friends.
Worst Travel Moment
An asthma attack in the middle of the night. My asthma always seems to prove most difficult to deal with in October. This year was no different. Benadryl, my inhaler, and coffee in the middle of the night calmed it down and I haven’t had a severe asthma attack since so it’s barely worth mentioning. But, in the moment, it was truly the worst moment of the entire month.
Favorite Travel Tool
Uber. It meant we didn’t need to drive on Halloween so we could all just go have fun. It’s more reliable than any taxi service I’ve ever used, the price is always worth it, and it can really get you out of a transportation jam in places where public transit is limited.
