A Short Run for TC Training

A Short Run for TC Training

I just got home from my weekend training run, which is generally supposed to be my long run for the week, usually 4 to 9 miles depending on where I am in my training, most often 6 or 7 miles. I have to tell you that I probably ran 2. I’m not even sure because I didn’t keep track.

Sometimes, you just need this kind of run. Maybe you’re recovering from a hanger-on of a winter cold that just won’t finish melting away and you don’t feel quite up to running. Maybe you have exercise induced asthma and you forgot to pick up your new inhaler. Maybe you started a new medication and you’re having some side effects. Maybe you don’t want to run too far from a bathroom (so many of us running Team Challenge do have Crohn’s or colitis after all). Maybe you strained something earlier in the week and need to be careful. Maybe your body is just telling you to rest.

If I weren’t training with Team Challenge for Crohn’s and Colitis, I might not have even gone running today. But I have this sweet new tech shirt I’ve been wanting to get some sweat on and a whole team of fellow runners to answer to. So out I went. And I’m so glad I did. Running just makes so many things about life better.

I did laps around the block at an easy pace with a fair bit of walking listening to my favorite running playlist. Just enough.

And I came home to find my email full of great Team Challenge stuff. Dinner with TC friends next weekend and plans for a group fundraiser that I’m REALLY excited about and can’t wait to announce once we’ve hashed out the details. This is all for the cures: http://www.active.com/donate/chicagoNATIONAL14/TCEHutton
